Inspired by the 17th-century portolan sea charts by celebrated cartographer Placido Caloira e Oliva held in The Sunderland Collection, this stunning pair of earrings is part of the Portolancollection made in collaboration with the iconic jewellery house GRIMA.
In homage to the hand-ground pigments and gold highlights used in luxury map-making, these earrings showcase rich lapis lazuli - one of the most precious stones in the world - framed in 18 carat yellow gold. The criss-crossing lines echo the 'rhumb lines' found on portolan charts, a tradition lasting for hundreds of years.
2cm diameter, 0.7cm tall. Limited edition of 6 pairs, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Each piece in the Portolan collection is individually hand-made by GRIMA artisans in London.
